14 Days of Thrilling EBC Trek

Our trek guide will transfer you to Kathmandu domestic airport early morning to catch your flight to Lukla, our 1st important step towards our destination. Of course you are going to enjoy the scenic and panoramic view of terraced hills and giant mountain from your flight. On arrival at the airport, the guide will brief you and introduce our porters before we begin our trek towards Phakding. Soon we will begin our trek by sloping downwards to Dudhkoshi river and join our main trail to Namche Bazar. You will be crossing suspension bridge and will have a short visit to monastery located on our way. The walking is not that difficult, and after passing a small village at Ghat, we will reach Phakding just with a small walk.

We will be crossing the banks of Dudh Koshi with various exciting suspension bridges and a lot of prayer hung around called ‘Lungdar’ (a traditional way of sending prayers to God by Buddhist). Today will be a little more challenging and quite toughest because of the inclined steep and altitudes. Soon we will be entering Sagarmatha National Park on the way, where you need to check your permits. You may see Mt. Everest (8848m), Lhotse (8516m) and Nuptse (7879m) just 1 hour before reaching Namche Bazar. Namche Bazaar is home to many quality restaurants, hotels, lodges, shops, money exchange services, internet cafes and bakeries. And its majestic view with snow-capped mountains and the lush forests, and hills will leave you in awe.

Due to a high altitude trekking, we can’t force our body to trek extra miles even though you are feeling good and no sign of altitude sickness. So we will be staying a day in Namche Bazar to acclimatize and adjust with the thinning air. But we can do a short trek to the museum, or hike to Syangboche Airport or visit Everest View Hotel (the highest placed hotel according to Guiness book of world records). We can see a mesmerizing view of Himalayas including Mt. Everest from this point. And you can obviously stroll around Namche bazar, visit different shops, cafes, chit-chat with the local people the village, get some trekking gears if necessary.

As the morning starts, our trek starts. We will go through the glacial waters of Dudhkoshi and Majestic views of the mountains. Though it is a tough and challenging trek, there will be an easy level walk from Rhododendron forest for a while. One can definitely enjoy the beautiful sunrise, sunset and majestic Mt. Everest and other Himalayas from Tengboche. You will find yourself in the Tengboche Monastery now which is known to be the religious center of whole Sherpa land. Upon reaching the monastery to an altitude of 3860m, you will explore the 20ft sculpture of Lord Buddha, embellished wall hangings, traditional and ritual musical instruments and robes of the Lamas. You will get chance to observe the prayer ceremony too.

From Tengboche, our trail first drops to Deboche, through the forest of birches, junipers, conifers and rhododendron. We will be crossing another fun-filled suspension bridge on Imja Khola. Then we will climb towards Pangboche amongst thousands of mani stones. We may often see animals and birds like musk deer, pheasant, blue sheep, etc. Our trek will lead us up to the old-fashioned and picturesque traditional Sherpa village of Dingboche. We will have the well-crafted view of Lhotse, Island peak and Ama Dablam too. We all very well know the effects of altitude sickness so won’t rush to our destination.

We will further take this day as Adaptation or Acclimatization day which means we won’t be going further our trekking journey for today. We will roam around the village, have some rest and do some short hike or trek to a certain destination. We will hike upward Nangkartshang Peak which lies just above Dingboche. This peak is an excellent view-point where one can enjoy Ama Dablam. Depending on the weather, one can have the full view from the summit to the feet of Ama Dablam.

Today you will have to pass through farmlands, meadows, lateral moraine and some rocky steepy climb. We will continue our trek along the lateral moraine of Khumbu Glacier. We will pass by some stone memorials of the climbers who have perished on nearby mountains. Wherever you walk, the glimpse of Himalayas won’t leave you on your own during the trek. We continue our walk to the village of Lobuche which is located at the foot of giant Lobuche Peak. Take care of the altitude problems here.

Today is a big day as you are walking up to Khumbu Glaciers and to the Everest Base camp. The trail follows western side of Khumbu Valleys nearby glacial moraine and some rocky paths. The trek trail in on glacier and on snow-capped rocks. You can see many frozen lakes around the Everest Base Camp.  But you can’t see Mt. Everest from the base camp although you could see it along the trail but it is the closest you can get to Mt. Everest without mountaineering equipments. Khumbu Icefall will be the most majestic and unforgettable view you can encounter from here. Then we will head back to Gorak Shep for the night.

Starting early morning, we will be hiking towards Kala Patthar as it offers us the view no other place can. Upon reaching we will find ourselves surrounded by numerous Himalayas, and if we reach on time we will see the most breath-taking sunrise of your lives. It will be one of the difficult yet rewarding day for us. You may feel as you are touching Mt. Pumori and the close up view of Mt. Everest. Then afterwards we will cross the river coming from Everest Base Camp and Khumbu Icefall, then will choose our way to the easy walk on the valley to Pheriche.

Our trek will take us away from the beauty of nature. It will take us away from Everest Base Camp through Pangboche and Tengboche leaving the mountains behind us. We will be back to the town of Namche Bazar after few hours of trek downwards our destination. Slowly we will be missing all the challenges, physical pains, that excitement even the fear of altitude sickness as if head toward Namche knowing we might never be here again.

So today is the last day that we will be having in the Everest region still trekking our way back to Lukla where our journey started. We enjoy this time to reflect on the trek, on our journey, on every steps we took to reach our destination, every challenges and thrill we faced. The afternoon is free so you can rest, take a hot shower, get fresh and wander around the village for the last time. Later you can have celebratory drinks, farewell dinner and enjoy by dancing and singing with your trek-mates.

Knowing it’s the last morning in Everest region and enjoying the last glimpse of the Himalayas, we have to say bye to the beautiful place and your wonderful journey. On our arrival at Kathmandu, we will transfer you to the hotel in a private vehicle. You can have the rest of the day to yourself.

The Everest Base Camp concludes and it’s your last morning in Nepal. Our staff will drop you to TIA in a private vehicle for your final departure on the day.
