Early morning we leave pokhara and start our journey to jomsom. Enjoy the 8hrs scenic drive and enter into the mystical trans Himalayan region.
Also known as Dzong-Sampa or New Fort, Jomsom is the centre of GharpajhongGaunpalika at an altitude of about 2,700 m. Jomsom lies along the banks of Kali Gandakiriver where black rocks or stones called shaligram in the Hindu culture can be found. Local and the Hindus take this stone as a form of Lord Vishnu. The soaring peaks of Dhaulagiri and Nilgiri form a backdrop. As the district headquarters, it is primarily an administrative and commercial centre with government officials and merchants rubbing shoulders with the Thakalis residents. A company of the Nepalese Army is stationed here.
Upon arrival, we check into the lodge where the remaining evening is at leisure.

It is one of the world's highest temples (altitude 3,800 m). The site is close to the village of Ranipauwa, which is sometimes mistakenly called Muktinath.
